Activities for groups

Head outdoors for thrilling adventures or get amongst nature, including volunteering on Kāpiti Island. Or if you're keen to relax with the crew, try one of our slower paced options in a beautiful setting.

Volunteer on Kāpiti Island

Head to New Zealand's oldest nature reserve. Volunteer and help with conservation on day trips between September and May. Minimum of 10 people in a group.

Ngā Manu Nature Reserve

Connect with nature at Ngā Manu Nature Reserve. With a function centre on site, it's the perfect place for meetings, conferences and team building.

See a live tuatara up close and keep your eyes peeled in the nocturnal house for a kiwi. take a guided tour of the native forest. Eel feeding is also available and if you're unable to make out regular 2pm feeding and youhave a group of 20+, you can book a private eel feeding and talk.

Mountain biking

There are plenty of accessible trails great for mountain biking with the team. Try Queen Elizabeth Park in Paekākāriki or head to nearby Whareroa Farm. Or Kāpiti's cycleways are a fantastic place to take a leisurely bike ride.

Adventure Kapiti offers guided mountain biking for riders of all abilities in a range of locations. Bike through native bush, along the coast or into the hills. Dirt Farm is a series of dedicated mountain biking tracks, complete with jumps training area and more.

Horse riding

There's nothing like a horse ride along the beach, especially at sunset. 

Te Horo Equestrian Centre offers pony rides, treks, lessons, accommodation for horses and riders, any age and any level. Beachbrook Stables can take you for a ride on Ōtaki Beach.

Beach horse treks are also available with the Kāpiti Equestrian Centre in Waikanae.

Rafting and abseiling at Ōtaki Forks

Raft down the river from Ōtaki Forks with Captivate Adventures. Or try night rafting guided by glow worms.

They also offer climbing and abseiling adventures and a challenge ropes course perfect for team building. 

Golf

There are four courses in Kāpiti:

  • Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club, a world-class course that has played host to Tiger Woods
  • Waikanae Golf Club, an 18 hole course that has hosted several national events including qualifying for the New Zealand Open
  • Kapiti Golf Club, a challenging 9 hole course set in a pleasant valley, with easy walking and picturesque views
  • Otaki Golf Club, an easy walking 18 hole course, the oldest on the Kāpiti Coast

Paintball and laser tag

Get the adrenalin pumping at Adrenalin Kapiti Coast, which offers paintball and laser tag. Enjoy a battle in a beautiful Kāpiti setting. Located in the Lindale complex in Paraparaumu near Southward Car Museum.

They can also bring laser tag to you. In the past, they've set up in places like parks and the Paraparaumu Memorial Hall.

Tuatara craft beer tasting

Go to a craft beer tasting session at Tuatara Brewery with matched hors d’oeuvres made from local ingredients.

Set on a lush green 60 are site, El Rancho is located alongside the Waikanae River and just a short stroll from Waikanae Beach.
